Cross Plains Planning Committee Minutes

November 6, 2008

This was a regular meeting of the Cross Plains Planning Committee.  Members present were Chairman Kerry Mann, Rick Potter, Cindy Payne, Mark Norris, Debbie Gosnell, David Estes, & Karen Lenz.

Committee members enjoyed a pizza and soda lunch provided by Kerry Mann.

First item on the agenda were the minutes of the last meeting.  By general consent the board approved the previous minutes as presented.

David Estes, Treasurer, gave the budget report.  Estes reported that the balance of the boards account is $1,250.00 less receipts submitted for lunch.

Rick Potter gave the Website report and he reported that he has purchased cpedc.com, crossplains.org, and plancp.com, for three years with 10 emails for the cost of $780.86, a substantial savings from what the board had previously thought.  Rick also advised the board that he has met with Stacy Loyless, School Principal, and is working on bringing the School up to date on the projects at hand.  Mr. Loyless indicated that he is very interested in what the committee is working on.

The fundraiser report was given by Debbie Gosnell.  She reported that the Chamber wrote the EDC a check for $8,655.00.  This is a profit of approximately $2,000.00 for the restroom facilities. The committee was pleased with the outcome.

Mann presented the committee with the next project at hand.  He again discussed the need for funding and the tax issues that have been previously mentioned to the committee. He presented two proposals to the committee for their review and all members stated that they liked plan #2 the best.  The plan is as follows:

  • Spend November & December researching the tax issues
  • Work with City Leaders & Citizens to discuss ideas & visions for CP
  • Host a town meeting in late January 2009 for the purpose of open discussion on tax issues
  • Follow-up with decisions of City Leaders & Citizens

Rick was on hand to take pictures of the Committee members for the Web Page.

By general consent the board agreed to adjourn.
